Littlewoods Scania.

The Scania artic in Littlewoods livery was owned by Multiple Fruit Supplies,HQ was at Maltby, and part of Glass Glover Distribution. It would have been based at our Ross on Wye depot, formerly BRS and shared with Mike Prosser. That Scania 81 Fleet 100, OWO 834R finished up as a shunter at Maltby,I worked at that depot for 27 years both as a driver and shunter. Here’s a photo of it…
I did several trunks to Ross from Maltby, usually tipping Littlewoods at Kidderminster ont way down,we had keys for the loading bays and tipped many stores at night.MFS Ross moved to Chepstow when we got got the frozen and chill contract in 1986.Happy days, best job I ever had.Wincanton bought Glass Glover out int 90s.I will put some more MFS photos on…

Some Multiple Fruit Supplies Ltd wagons. Most deliveries were done overnight,we had keys for nealy all Littlewoods loading bays.Trunks were run from Maltby to Ross,Hitchin,Altrincham and Newbridge Edinburgh via changeovers at Morpeth,Stannington,Penrith,Carlisle and Lockerbie. The whole of the UK was covered, from Inverness down to Truro, all store picking done at Maltby,a very slick operation.Scania were the number one choice,we finished up with fleet 537,although Ford Transcontinentals for drawbar work and Sed Atki 400s were used, as well as different units on demo.

Welcome Barry, you have to remember that if some pics are blurred its because they were nearly always
on the move. Paul liked to take pics of trucks working rather than stationary !

Thats what is so good about the pics, companies you forget about and trucks that you either cant
remember or did not know as in this case that they operated !

Here’s a photo taken at MFS depot at Ross,I believe it was Winter 1981.I can’t remember who sent me the photo though…I remember I was on nights shunting and our TM Don Simpson, TSM Paul Stone and regular shunter Paul Goodhind trunked down that night and used the Midlands bound side of the M50 to get to Ross from Strensham as the other side was impassable. They didn’t meet another vehicle until the end of the M50,only to be greeted by the police. :grimacing: I meant to ask where they changed sides…
I know they got a bollocking but no further action was taken.
