Patras new port

If any of you are doing Greece you may not be aware there is a new terminal , it is only 2 kms away from the old one but now the way out has changed

On disembarking leave the port and stay in the right hand lanes turn right on to rd 500 metres ish light turn left ( you will tell if right rd as storm drain separates the lanes , its not the greatest of rds there are a couple of flashing yellow crossings then straight onto the motorway

As for returning to the port its the reverse but with the added pleasure of our illegals wanting to hitch a ride to the land of milk n honey

so we have in the past come the old way as if driving to the old port - of the motorway right at the BP garage follow onto sea front pass the old terminal into the one way then to the new port its an ok way but lets see what its like in the height of summer or the other way is go past junction 9 and take the next junction and work your way back

We have noticed a weighbridge on the way into the new terminal but its on its own and easy access for the hitchers to get on so we didnt go on it and were not asked for the ticket

The freight office windows are on the outside of the terminal building but if you walk in to the building nice air condition building with free wifi

Hope this of help to one you

I have tried to attach a map of the area but for some reason wont accept pdf so if you want a map or can tell me how to put one up i will glady do for you

They used the old port again two weeks ago, when Anek Superfast crashed into a Minoan ferry :open_mouth: , unless you were on it, you wouldn’t know because they kept it quiet. I presume that they were a bit worried about bad publicity after the cruise liner sat nav failed. It is still a secret so I wont mention anything

They did a survey on the ship in the old port, well sort of, they drove a car alongside and used main beam to assess the damage

My mate who was on the ship was frightened to death, he had almost finished his beer and they shut the bar :stuck_out_tongue:
