What’s weird about saying that the purpose of a tandem bogie is to share the load equally across it’s two axles ??.
It’s you that is weird CF ! Obviously you are the only member of the TNUK regiment marching in time to the band !

Studebaker behind the Bedfords SDU.
Nice, a 150 and a DB 6. A grand workhorse
I quite like the idea of keeping the road names etc but adding on his prison number. Prince Andrew 6432890 Rd has a ring to it.
Nance culdesac., first word isa spelling mistake
Don’t know Oily, before my time.
The front of the bonnet looks a bit Dodge, DeSotoish and the grill Ford F??.
Interestingly the manufacturer claims it is possible to make clutchless changes. Obviously they didn’t run that claim past Carryfast. ![]()
Assuming you know how to drive I can obviously be forgiven for thinking that accelerator actuation is obviously going to mess up any preselected split shifts.
A bit like the idea of a 15 speed 5 over 5 over 5 range change with two different range change switches.
Nice to see that the twin split was pre select and clutch actuated. But which surely contradicts accelerator actuation ?.I’d never taken much notice of it in the day.
Go back and read the careful explanations I painstakingly made for you on the Twin-Splitter thread. It was all about breaking the torque. It was nothing like the 15-sp Fuller either. You’ve already admitted you’ve never used either boxes.
I always get confused with photos of Scotch Corner so let’s get this straight. That is looking south down the A1, right?
So where was that transport cafe on the old bit of road, behind the big hotel I’m assuming, but I thought it was closer to the dual carriageway than that.
And further south in the distance, is that white building the old Clock Cafe? ![]()
Hardly use that stretch of the A1 now, A19 is more convenient for me.
The photo is looking south and you are probably correct about the Clock Cafe. I have just looked on google map and the Shell filling station that was built on the Clock site is still there and open.
The hotel is now a Holiday Inn.
The motorway now runs to the west of the old road, not sure about the rest, the old brain cells are getting confused.
That Shell site was closed for a few years and surprisingly re.opened quite recently….a useless bit of info for ya.![]()
The motorway runs east of the old road-the current n/b carriageway is the old s/b track. The old n/b track now runs parallel with the motorway and is a B road between Scotch Corner and the old Gatherley roundabout (near Chas. Longs Aggregates). The old Clock Cafe is a Premier Inn (or similar) with a Little Chef which closed when the new motorway route was opened.
The petrol station next to the Scotch Corner Hotel is now a Mobile home sales site and on the opposite side in the photo the petrol station is now a workshop unit with the old motel standing empty for years.
The twin splitter is the only Eaton gearbox which a manufacturer demo driver would tell you to float all gears. It wasn’t that you could, but that you should, it was designed from the outset for clutchless changes, as backed up by the advert. All about springs and circlips I believe, although i never saw inside one. The MAN was by far the best installation in my opinion. Whilst we know you can float a Roadranger, Eaton always tell you that you shouldn’t.
Loved the 14 or 18 speed Fuller.
Hated the Twin Splitter, not saying I couldn’t master it either, just saying I hated it.
