Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 2)

2.1 or 2.3 I think. They were a bit of a goer with the highly tunable 2.3.

“ramone” it makes me sick looking at that Foden :face_vomiting: I just would never entertain a Foden ( not that I ever got a visit from anyone from Foden I hasten to add !)
Anyway what’s all this bollox about these poxy little cars ? Things would have been very bad if I had to run one of those as my company car ! :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

The 343 first came out with the pushrod 1.4 Renault from the Renault 14. The facelifted 340 got an ohc 1.7 Renault. The 36p got a 2.0 Volvo unit mainly with carbs but the upmarket GLT got injection. A very few markets got a 1.6 Renault diesel.

I was replying to Park Royals post about a DAF car .Daf cars were bought by Volvo in the 70s terrible things and so were the 343 Volvos.I never liked any of the small Volvos but the bigger ones i’ve always run.I’m on my 20th now but they aren’t the same.I’ve got my eye on an old 960 but something doesnt ring true about it so i probably wont bother. As for Fodens it’s a matter of taste and i quite liked the one i had.I would sooner drive it than any of the Mercs we run or the last MAN we had, now they would make you puke and probably bankrupt you too

It was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek post about an old DAF, just for the sake of conversation

Here’s some footage (not mine) of the procession at Gaydon last week:

What the fork is a Vulcan when it’s at home (5:16 timestamp)?

That Vulcan is to me the only true old truck in this procession. I thought one coud see Mammoth Major 8 Mk IIIs or Scammell Constructors at Gaydon!

Aaah ,Vulcans.
They are no more, a Vulcan lorry (usually with a Perkins P6) was IMO a truly horrible thing. Terrible.Vulcan (motor vehicles) - Wikipedia
The Perkins had a bad habit of running backwards when shutting it off. I saw one once and nobody could stop it. Frightening

Brady Comet FEO 31 first reg 1/2/60 scrapped 1/6/70.

Another sultry day, just right for rebuilding that tilt behind the ERF :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: - all right, I’ll get my coat…

Has anybody heard/seen anything posted by ‘our hero’ recently ? he’s been very quiet, has he been sacked or jumped ship or is he living it up in sunny Spain.
I’m missing his regular input of fantasy and daring do.
Come back CF, all is forgiven.

That Octopus sits just as trim off the road as on it

Some of us have simply enjoyed the adult conversation, but I must admit it’s not quite as lighthearted without the comedic input, regardless of how unbelievable.

What’s going on there. Dodgy trailer lights or are they re-roping the load? Nice pic btw

Which one did you learn the ropes on Dennis? The drivers mate experience was worth its weight in gold how good could that be right now.The problem though is the job’s changed so much it’s unrecognisable to when you started and quite a bit from when i did too. The new breed not all but quite alot dont want to listen .Only last week i was waiting to leave our weighbridge when the banksman waved an outside operator to reverse into the shed for loading. A very simple task but this young man complete with his hoody over his head took an age .When he eventually got where he wanted to be i glanced over and his motor was a 2025 Scania with a big dent on the off side front. The problem is give them an old motor and they leave
