Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 2)

I wish I’d a shilling for everytime I’d been across the Tinsley Viaduct. Hell, I’m old enough to remember it being contructed

Some grand motors there, the Foden (B100 SUM) at the back end of my ‘career’ I had one, a 3 axle, double drive, 350 Cummins, 9 speed Fuller. It was a great motor, I did a lot of miles with it. Tri axle trailer running gas oil dye to most/all the UK refineries. The Foden was the one that I had the embarrassing incident with trying to get it off the ferry at Stranrar, (treadle style brake pedal seized on the pivot,…whoops, pass the WD40)

I had a 320 Gardner 9 speed Fuller 4x2 loved it

Was it in a Big J chassis “ramone” just asking as you didn’t make that clear

The second pic looks a bit iffy. The driver has roped over the fly sheet. Dennis will not be impressed

Bradys sheets were always a bit scabby on the trailers and one looks about as good as it got. However we had decent gear on the Octopus and trailer because they were a fixture and not robbed from trailer to trailer ! By the looks of that Comet I think it was coming to the end of it’s road going life on the fleet it’s a bit rough to say the least. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

The sheets don’t look too bad and a tidy job too, i just cant believe he’s roped “between” why would he do that Dennis :shushing_face::grin:

I can tell you “ramone” that it was a load of British Cellophane ,in cardboard tubes, from the Sandscale works of BCL in Barrow. Now long gone and demolished ! It was probably loaded and roped and sheeted by Bradys BCL shunter John Cornthwaite.

That shunter could do his job it lookes a tidy load

Herewith, an old DAF

Volvo cars took over DAF Cars.I don’t know why but the 66 340 360 were the outcome.

Note the double wheels on the drawbar

I know, I was taking the mickey slightly. The old DAFfodil (33, 44, 55 etc.) were pedestrian but very fit for purpose, what with a CVT transmission (of DAF design I believe) and all.

The 340s were crap ugly things the 360s had the 2 litre Volvo engine

IIRC the '80s version of the 340 had the Renault engine in.

Yeah that’s right , that’s why they were crap. I think they were built in Belguim . I know Volvo have a factory there
