This is a cracking picture of a machine discussed on this thread some months ago. I remember them well, I saw at least two of them in my time(1960s) on the old A6/A74, they are a bit of a legend, not least because, nothing else could keep up, even you empty, them loaded, anyway well done the restoration man.
oily
Ran up and down the A74 and A6 along with George Patersons Macks in the 60s as far as i was concerned there was nothing could touch them, drove a lot of Octopuses and Scammells with Leyland 680s in them and none of them could catch them on there own, never mind one with a Drag on the back.P&S were always well freighted as there work was mostly heavy gear from Wm Beardmores,Parkhead Forge. Later the only thing that got near them was Moores of Ayr,s Scammells with 680,s in them. Oily when P&S finished up George Paterson went to Canada dont know if he is still about.
Ben.

Ben.
We had Leyland Comet/Carrimore 9 car wagon and drags, which I suppose most motors went past, but it was the way these Macks, level or uphill just flew past and mostly had loads that exceeded trailer length by quite a bit, concrete reinforcing rod comes to mind.
