Regarding the Sentinal bus on the mural replicating the first one built in 1949 designated SB with bodywork by John C Beadle of Dartford Kent and sold to Ribble Motor Services Ltd, Preston CRN 211. Five more STC 4 models were bought in 1950 with almost identical Sentinel bodywork. These were Ribble’s first underfloor engined buses, being staunch Leyland operators they had been badgering Leyland Motors to bring out an underfloor engined model to no avail hence their purchase of the Sentinels some of which were promptly put into service running past Leyland Motorworks main gate as a small reminder. Most of them ended up at Carlisle, Bowness on Solway and Penrith depots where they were used on routes that precluded double deckers due to low bridges and the Bowness to Carlisle route which passed over numerous weak railway bridges. I remember travelling on them as a lad. Here are some more pics. The Duffield Sentinel pics were sent to me by someone whom I sold some vintage mirrorheads to for the restoration of this wagon.

Beadles of Dartford stirs another memory, delivered cars from Cowley to them in the early 60s, the fussiest check-in anywhere, every car was gone over and through with a fine tooth comb, still, they were happy days.
