I think the motor car and side bike came a cropper when Reliant brought out their three-wheelers: fully enclosed bodywork, four seats and you could still drive it on a motorcycle licence.

I know which I’d rather have in the winter! And the Reliants did have at least something resembling a heater, even if it was just about on a par with a Gardner’s!
I think MORE scrumpy is the answer, not less. All donations gratefully received.

Nice pics Steve! But what the hell is that oschkos thing? What do he haul?

This Ford Transit D205 FHA was new to Sandwell Council, near Dudley in the West Midlands.
I bought it in 1991, at which time it was a “Dropside Flat”. It is seen here with a sheeted load,
Southbound in France, between Limoges and Brive, en route to Figeac in1993.
I had stopped on the lay-by for a Jimmy Riddle, and to make a “Nice Cup Of Tea”.

I later designed a “Lift On/Lift Off” curtainsided body, which was manufactured by Simon Elston
at Wigan Trailer Centre. It is seen in the 2nd picture in 1994, about to drive aboard the ferry
from Ardrossan to Brodick, Isle of Arran. By this time it was owned by J.T.Leyland of Milnthorpe.
Photo 2 is courtesy of Mike Leyland at J.T.Leyland. Regards, Ray Smyth
