Back with Maudslay marques, the last pic an indication of morphing into AEC, the UD reg County of Oxfordshire.
OilyThat shot of the E. Nelson 4 wheeler is interesting as it was shot in Vauxhalls Luton plant and by the looks of the Viva body shells in the background, it would be in the early 60’s. The motor have been delivering or had delivered a consignment of carburettors which were manufactured at a factory on Park rd. in Barrow-in-Furness and it was apparently a regular job of Nelsons. Before my time but I was reliably told about it but it was a job that was right in Brady’s and Athersmiths “back yard” so I’m not just sure how Nelsons came to be involved ! I think the factory closed in the 60’s and I can’t recall the name of the firm, maybe Leyland 680 will shed more light on it ! Cheers Bewick.
Hi Dennis it took me a long time to remember the name it was called Northen Engineering And your right Brady,s never took load’s out of there well they did when it closed down I loaded a few load’s of machinery It became Robert Mcbrides soap powder Factory and still is Stobart do all the work out of there Ok Frank

These two loads left Bendalls Engineering at Carlisle yesterday morning bound for Blyth where they will be shipped to the Nile Delta, Egypt. The larger one weighs 144 ton 91 ft long, x 16ft 8in wide x 17ft 9in high. The smaller one weighs 52 tons, L53ft x W11ft 8in x H 15ft 3in. Good to watch these professionals move these large pressure vessels easily without fuss given that they have the proper tackle to do the job.
Cheers, Leyland 600.

I am not at liberty to answer Pete. [emoji3] Someone of influence knows where I live, what school my kids go to etc.

The larger trailor appears to have some kind of drive to the rear most 3 axles,is that correct and if so what is it,hydraulic/electric ?
The larger trailor appears to have drive to rearmost 3 axles. If that is the case, how does it work and how common is it?
