Hi Buzzer, I like that picture of the Translloyd Commer. I think they were based near
Trafford Road Swingbridge. Salford Reg.No. The driver should have wound his landing
gear up a bit more. Regards, Ray Smyth.

Hi Ray IIRC It was Water Street where they had a warehouse, I used to load there sometimes with soap powders that they stored for Thos Hedley Ltd then Proctor & Gamble Ltd in the 50/60 days all handball, Regards Larry.

Hi Lawrence, Yes, I was wrong, the huge warehouse I was thinking of was âLiverpool Warehousingâ
near Trafford Road Bridge. The Commer appears to have 8 stud wheels, and probably 8.25 x 20 tyres,
so it would be no more than about 22 tons GVW. Regards, Ray.

Dirty Dan:
Some more bonnets maby? Had them back in the days.
The 470 was a real good unit made to do the work, and pulled like a train. And the 460 V8 no muffler sounded like a thunderstormâŚ
Danne
That 470 engine, wasnât that the turbo-compound one? Wasnât all that long on the market, was it?
Cracking shots though mate!

Thanks mate If i rember it right the first Scania compound was the 113 400 but wasnt a big succses. And the first version of the 470 wasnt good either but the second one was pretty good i think but it had to live with the first versions bad name⌠hmm can remember for how long it was around but wasnt it around for the whole 4serie?
We had two of them mine 3axl and a 4axl(see if i can find some pics) mine whent about 800000km without any major problems, but the other one was a bad one. When it was sold it had its fifth engine in it and third gearboxâŚ

Well, thatâs Scannyâs reputation going down the drain ehâŚ
Never seen much of them about, itâs mostly the V8 fitted ones in âourâ workâŚ? Did driven the Volvo turbo-compound engine (or so I was toldâŚ), in the then upgrated FH series, a 500hp output if I remember correctly, pulled like a train, never missed a beat, wasnât all that long in production eitherâŚsommat âfishyâ about those turbo-compound engines perchangeâŚ?
