Thanks to Lawrence Dunbar for the pics There’s a lot of that type traffic going out from Inverness Harbour, specially adapted ships, wagons, cranes, road building off main highway, traffic disruption, scarring the landscape not to mention, no wind no power, too much wind, switch off and pay owners a subsidy and all to be paid for by the end user. I remember a Spanish mythology book at school where Don Quixote on his steed charged at windmills because he thought they were giants that needed slaying, bring him back I say.
Oily
I know the location well, oily, as I passed it on my way to work many moons ago. And I thought it was a stroke of genius to bring Mrs oily with you on your trip- prevented you from being tempted by those good-looking sheep.

Finishing an apprenticeship at the end '54 and before looking for greener grass I got a job on a farm which included a brief spell of shepherd under the guidance of a memorable farmer mentor of my youth, a harsh winter was still with us in March/April at lambing time. I got a pound a day and three meals, starting at 6.00am with breakfast, a last look round in the evening, (sometimes with a torch) they were out in the field, where maternity duties were performed, a bucket of disinfected (Dettol)water for before and after hand wash, sickly yowes were wheeled home to the steading in a barrow , I was dedicated and without any carnal interest
. I still have a passing interest in livestock and admiration for people like Buzzer and wrighty whose pictures of livestock are a credit to them.

Ah yes, although I’m not quite as old as you! Some of those are even older than our school buses (Stevo’s) from donkey’s ages ago!
BTW - on the subject of old buses - I wonder if anyone has any pics of Berresfords from Cheddleton - remember them, Tony?

Yes I remember them.Their yard looked more like Jim Marsh’s.I think I may have a bit of info about Berresfords.Didn’t they get swallowed up by P.M.T.
Go onto Google and yes they were taken over by P.M.T. but a very interestng company. As it is said." Don’t judge a sausage by its skin ".
Just type in Berresfords coaches
Tony

Hi Oily,
I agree 100% with your comments on those hideous wind turbines scarring our lovely countryside, we have a yard in Hirwaun Ind Est near Aberdare and they have erected some of them things across the valley spoiling a beautiful view BUT the lad that works the yard cannot get planning permission for extension to his house! hows that work then? that feels better!! Hi Rastone,

Hi Rastone,
Found this on the internet,
Who owned it do you know.Looks as if they were having a clear out and left it.
Tony
Hi Oily, you have been motorhoming at sunny Silloth again. The photo locations are, Neil Garner about 1 mile from his base at Kingside Hill, I knew his father well way back, Tarff Valley near Longcummercatiff the home of the several times winner of Radio ■■■■■■■■■ annual Biggest Liar competition at Santon Bridge. Armstrong’s tautliner and milk tanker between Calva and Seaville (pronounced civil) - Blackdyke cross roads , RH Direct and Casson leaving Abbeytown for Silloth, again I worked alongside John Casson senior many years ago hauling cement out of Whitehaven, The DAF cattle float at Dian House cottage, Wheyrigg, both Tom French and Skitt near Causewayhead churchyard and Silloth aerodrome.
I bet you did not get sunburnt !!
