That’s a memory jogger Ade, ration books, we didn’t have the fuel one, our transport was bikes, my main concern was the one with the sweetie coupons , books if I remember correctly were different colours for children and adult requirements, food and clothes books also dockets for bed linen/blankets. People were ultra self sufficient during and after WW2, nothing was wasted (kinda still lives with me today, make do and mend) we were more fortunate being rural, kept hens, also butter from farms, game in the form of partridge, rabbit, hare and the odd pheasant and wood pidgeons. A productive veg garden, mother made clothes also rugs using a hessian sugar bag(nice tight weave) stretched on a frame, using a latch hook and patterns from Readicut, the result a colourful rug cut from redundant garments of various colours.
At that time was the emergence of the Black Market and the Spivs, they were the original fell off the back of a lorry merchants.

for last night’s change over I was back in the 9-0 , or Kenworth 904. This is my bosses ‘personal’ truck - it doesn’t get used for regular work, just trailer changes on the weekend. My boss loves it - I don’t, simple as that. It goes well - Cat C15, uprated to 700BHP, manual 18 spd RR gearbox- good spec, it’s just hard work to drive - and with those straight through exhausts right next to your ear, it is very very loud in the cab.I actually wear my workshop ear muffs when I drive it - its that loud. And the view from the seat is - er, a bit limited. Cyclists beware - in fact anything smaller than a bus beware. I dread driving this through towns.

Hi, Ray Smyth,Ex Robert Baillie,Portsmouth. This picture should fit in
with the “Past” part of this thread. It is my Dad stood beside this 2 tonner,
belonging to Greenbanks Dairy in Liverpool, about 1936. I think it maybe
a Ford. Could be a Morris, Bedford, Austin. I hope some eagle eyed
expert can identify its make.
Regards, Ray Smyth.
