Leyland600:
Spot on there Oily with your analysis of the Leyland Titan PD2. Was this an old friend / or nae doot some of its sisters ?
Cheers, Leyland 600
Aye Leyland600 mebbe this one, Guild St Station to Cove, the most boring shift in my memory, the No 9 and something like 9 trips in a shift out through the harbour on through Torry passing Craiginches(the prison) up Nigg brae known locally as the Nigg** (can’t say or print the word these days) and on to Cove, like it was yesterday(1956).

Here are some pictures from the cart marking ceremony at the Guildhall,London. Believe the horse drawn ones are branded don’t know about powered vehicles but some nice examples. Buzzer.
PS. The horse team belong to Tristar who built my horsebox and they have the job of showing the “Royal Mail Coach” all over the country and Northern Ireland as it is there five hundredth anniversary and the coach belongs to The Royal Mail.
Referring back to my account of almost colliding with a McKelvie long trailer pulling across the road from the Mossband Cafe I have just found this Foden advert in a 1966 copy of Commercial Motor, I wonder if this was the culprit or perhaps they had more than one long trailer.?
Cheers, Leyland 600. PS Apologies for image on its side, I cannot get it to post correctly despite several attempts to post from my computer where it is displayed the right way up. ■■
Tyneside, do you know if Ray Thornton of the former North East Bus Breakers Co of Annfield Plain is involved with this company ?
Cheers Leyland 600

Hi Leyland600. Sorry can’t help with that question. I know the Thorntons in the photo have been in the Bedlington/ Morpeth area for years. IIRC they sprayed a new Constructor 6 for us (via the Leyland dealership) in about 1986. It was on show at Tipcon before it hit the road.
I think Larry Dunbar knows the family perhaps he could help.
Cheers Tyneside.
Thanks to lurpak for the pics

More from Truckness 2016, Seafield Park Transport under the directorship of the Barclay family, there was at least another 4 in the line up which I saw leaving as I crossed the rec.
