Okay its not a lorry, but in the distance about a mile across Loch Bee(South Uist) is the rocket/missile testing range at West Geirinish, while sitting having a cup of tea there was an almighty whoosh followed seconds later by a boom way out in the Atlantic, quite eerie it was, more here secretscotland.org.uk/index. … ssileRange

Ok, not a lorry I know but I also know a lot of you like these, and some of you will have been behind one on a rope. My latest project, given to me in 1984, started working on it, came to a stop, it moved here with me on a trailer in 1987 and straight into the garage to collect dust, decided last autumn I should do something with it, drove it for the first time ever last week!

Very nice looking Landy, Bernard. Is she a 1950 80inch with bigger headlights, or a '49, in which case the headlights should be smaller and behind the grille?

Yes, 1950 “lights behind” and originally had bulkhead sidelights, but like many hard-working LRs has been much modified during it’s lifetime, doesn’t bother me, all part of it’s 66 year old history.

Hi Oily, Good photos of the 2013 Hayscastle Rally which takes place again tomorrow 3rd July, I shall be there. The Atkinson belongs to my pal Colin Bateman, and is a replica of the one bought new by his father John back in 1954, I had a hand in its restoreration a few years ago. The Tuer,s Albion belongs to father & son John & Mark Douglas from Alston, John seated. This Albion followed the late Fred Tuer’s funeral cortage to Carlisle Crematorium a couple of years ago. The Peter McCallum Atkinson operated in Tyson Burridge’s fleet after leaving McCallums. Tyson restored it many years later into its original livery and made excellent job don’t you agree. .

Hiya L600, who owned Colin’s Atki before him, and what’s the rest of it’s history, I see that it’s got a local reg.
I remember Willie Bothwick had one when I was a kid, wondered if that was it.
Hi Robroy, Colin’s Atki is showing his dads wagon original registration number but he changes it to KVA 209 the true reg when out on the road. It came from a company inthe Lanark area and then to a member of the Codona family before being partially restored by Arthur Ramage in Lanarkshire. Willie Borthwicks Atki which I can remember is lurking all sheeted up in yard belonging to the Codona family in Stirling. Registered NRM 943 Chassis No FC 3222 with ULW of 3ton 19cwt. first registered 07/05/1954.
Cheers Leyland 600.
