Cheers for the pics Gordon, you’ve set me off on another ramble, the MGB well before getting a wagon on Progressive, I did a spell on plates with Dealers Deliveries, mostly SE and London from Cowley which would be two trips a day, we seldom ran solo, anything upwards to half a dozen sometimes in convoy, I remember a second trip from Abingdon and the envy of my mates when they saw me with an MGB, one of the first to be leaving the factory (1962) hood was already down with half tonneau in situ, a boys dream, though I had previously owned a TR2, no sports car I ever delivered come close to the Austin Healy 3000, also made at Abingdon, many of which I was to cart later on Progressive, all export and mostly to Chipping Warden to be boxed and US bound, that straight six and arse on the road wow
Back to the plates, great bunch of guys and boy did I learn some capers on there, not to mention the card school on the train from Paddington to Oxford, Cowley to Tonbridge and a 5.30am start for 7.00 am delivery, call in and Elephant and Castle buy a ticket to Charing Cross, get on the train at Tonbridge with a ticket for Hildenborough, get off at Charing Cross with the ticket bought at the Elephant and Castle, the supposed perks of the job, many a hitch hike back from Preston, 2.00am start for delivery at 7.00am,( the earlier I could get a signature for the car the better) bus to Bamber Bridge walk out to the “new” Preston by pass which at the time was the start of the later to be M6, wagons readily pulled up knowing drive would get the price of a packet of ■■■■ or a meal on the way south. That was an earner for us, because of the train fare expenses in the wage packet.

Hey I forgot about the Citroen CV, moved them as well, which reminds of being asked at a café somewhere by another driver " where are you going wi’ that load o’ prams"

Good time,s Oily all just memories now, time wait,s for no one as they say & it fly,s by. Regards Gordon

I would think it’s got to affect the cooling. Each to his own but I can think of better things to spend money on (single malt immediately springs to mind  )

Hi Dirty Dan I agree with you on this point, Plus they must make the old altenater work hard, A total waste of money IMO,I was told sometime ago that a lot of drivers pay for them not the gaffers, Regards Larry.

Give me the Single Malts everytime, These drivers must have bad eyesight I think, They should try Specsavers then go to the shop & get some S/Ms, Regards Larry.

Hi Servo, I think this Renault has replaced a four wheeler Foden Alpha that Armstrongs used on their pallet distribution service.
