Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Some tippers seen this week including a Foden and ERF

Clicking a couple of times on that Foden pic brings up a very smart looking wagon for its years.

Thanks to rastone, Jakdaw, servo88 and Buzzer for the pics

To rastone, I well remember the V8 Pilots and how they were whisper quiet on tickover, even taking off compared to anything else at the time.
The Ford 10 pic, nice one looking at the architecture, shrubbery and the half hidden fuel tank complete with breather.

To Jakdaw, no probs with the bin wagon, I snap a few from time to time and make a point of a weekly chat with “our” bin men in the first pic of this lot, they do a sterling job. The gang on the left in the second pic I took it they were being given a sweeper demonstration/training instruction.

They were taken at Lupin Farm Alrewas and the show will be on again at the end of August. The EJT Pilot belongs to Edwin Tipper and is a beautiful motor. You can put an old threepenny bit upright on the rad. and it will stay upright when the engine ticks over. The Police Pilot used to belong to Ed Wheetman and is taken in the field where the show started and now the show covers two big fields.I think they made 11k for charity last year.

Another shot of the Ford Ten E83W

That’s a great photo of the 1946 Wolverhampton Reg Ford 10 cwt van, IIRC The throttle pedal with between the brake & clutch pedals, Regards Larry.

Had to be careful when putting the rear axle together on them as one side was wider than the other.

0Anyone got any ideas of what year this was taken, Its at Wells next to the sea ■■, Regards Larry.

Early 1953 after the floods which affected the east coast. The boat was washed up onto the quay. Search Wells next the Sea photo history or Wells net the Sea 1953 floods photos.

If you look at the reflection in the windscreen you will notice the drivers log sheet is open on the 6th of May 1949! Look more carefully and you will also see he is smoking a Capstan full Strength and he is using his Kodak Brownie. Seriously I was visiting Wells Next the Sea last week and not much changed in all those years. I moved from Manchester over 30 years ago to Kings Lynn Norfolk. I remembered an article in the Eastern daily Press showing 10 photos of old Lorries and bet most drivers remember Pointers? edp24.co.uk/features/from_th … _1_4022404

I like the Pimms bit I recall plying a few damsels with this in a large jug with all the fruit to enhance the flavour, They loved it but sadley to say they liked it better than they liked me, But as the old saying goes you win some you loose some but it was worth the try Eh, An old wagon drivers ploy , It sometimes worked mind you, Of course you know who taught me these don’t you, Regards Larry.

Yes Larry, I know who you mean.  :unamused: :unamused: Although I can’t see Parky investing more than a light ale in any of his “conquests” can you??
Regards Kev.

Well Kev I can remember one night in the Crooked Billet London when he did in fact buy a young filly a G&T, & He left shortly afterwards & returned an hour later with that cheeky little grin on his face, So he must have scored but then the next morning he was counting his change in his pocket, He was a real ladies man to say the least in his day, I quite often think about the great times that I worked with him, He should have been Knighted, Of course he was a Knight of the road & had the badge on his 8 wheeler Atki, Happy long gone days, Regards Larry.
