Hi Servo, I believe this photo of the late Jeff Stampers ERF was taken at Eyemouth which indicates that it is now owned by some of the Slater fairground family who have a wintering yard here in Wigton but also have family connections in the Greenlaw district, They also visit the borders towns during their summer fairground circuit. They have a habit of sussing out good old quality motors ex ■■■■■■■■ hauliers for conversion to fairground transport particularly ERF and Fodens. I must make some enquiries. I bought an excellent ERF 66GX six wheeler off Jeff Stamper in 1969 and ran it for 4 years two as a flat and two as a powder tanker.
Cheers Leyland 600.

The internet is a wonderful place and just look what it has found for me Bewick’s first vehicle when he started out just before going to the paint shop, engineering at its best Dennis and from these humble beginnings the fleet grew. There will be discussion of course as to what drive train this early model prime mover had, best left to the experts on here I think, cheers Buzzer.

I wonder what engine Dennis had lined up for that, I notice that the two exhaust pipes are already in position so I am guessing that maybe a Norman flat twin would have fitted nicely onto that platform as they would have lined up exactly? Mind you, Enfield made a flat twin diesel but looking at the carts ‘build quality’ (zero!) one of those would have shaken the cart to pieces in no time and probably deafened Dennis in the process. Still, it would have prepared him for those blooming noisy ■■■■■■■ things that he inflicted on his poor drivers in later times. :open_mouth: Hopefully the ‘main man’ will explain all when he reads the thread?

Pete.

Hi Leyland 600 your correct they do belong to Slaters from Greenlaw. Here,s a few more of theirs. Regards Servo

Notice how I parked up Buzzer",with the fron’t wheels turned into the wall so it wouldn’t “take off” down the bank without me on the “ropes”,IIRC I got 30,000 miles out of that set of tyres as well ! Cheers Dennis.

Hi Buzzer. I just wonder how many lads had the urge to become lorry drivers after building and driving a bogie truck? manchesterhistory.net/LONGSIGHT/GAMES/bogie2.jpg
I remember early 1950s Old Trafford Manchester me and my brother built a boggie truck. To make a hole to pass the bolt through we would use a white hot poker. The axle was secured on by hammering and bending 4 inch nails around it.
