Cheers bumper, you can hear them 2 strokes from a mile away. When my dad was coming up bridge inn bank into Tow Law after his days graft, i,d say to my mam put his tea on i can hear him coming regards servo88
The Roy Lockwood Foden owned by John Douglas of Alston is a Gardner, I dont know about the blue artic, the Perkins engined Bedford artic owned by Bob Parker from Kirkoswald and has been on the rally scene for 30 years or more.
Cheers Leyland 600
Cheers for that info Leyland 600, the last time i met John Douglas was at Alston & he had a S20 Foden. That was a long time a go it had the 2 star,s on the front so it may have been a brewery wagon. regards servo 88
While I was out exercising my brand new knee the other day I heard a collective “baaaaa” and got a very evocative whiff of days gone by so turned round and snapped this on my phone - not the best quality but took me back 40 years to livestock days
and by the way, sheep were a pain to load - I remember as a 12 year old, one cut and ran off at Banbury market - quick as a flash my uncle Tom shouted “grab him Mike” before the other 50 followed.
As a skinny 12 year old I dived on said sheep, grabbed two thick handfuls of wool and was promptly dragged off into the sunset, much to the raucous amusement of assorted Haydon’s drivers
Hi Bumper ,have you any more photos of the longcliffe Foden ?
A few more
