Cheers for the pics Kev  the car behind the Moto Guzzi the NSU RO80, I remember them, away ahead at the time in design departments, body style, brake etc and with the Vankel spelt with a W(the censor zbs the correct spelling) rotary engine, a mate had one, looking at the size of the engine, you think where the hell does all the power come from, though not the best mpg.

I like the steel-tyred Octopus. Reckon even Bewick wouldn’t fancy too many trips on that!

Hi ROF, I would like to know more of this Leylands history it certainly took my eye that day at Pidgeon Valley however there was no one about to ask. You have given it a an apt description !!!
Cheers, Leyland 600

I notice the diff. under the front end and what appears to be another under the rear. Could this be an 8X8 Octopus? You can just imagine Bewick & Possy thundering through Crewe en route to the smoke!

Hi ROF What ? thundering to the smoke on the West Coast Main Line !! Cheers Leyland 600

Oh, I don’t know - he likes his horses. An iron one would complete the fleet!

Stewartby, that’s a blast from the past Dennis, we regularly loaded out of there for Heysham power station in the seventies. The bricks were barrowed on in single slices, most of the crew were Poles, they were bloody quick!!! Each could load at least three to my one. We would park in the layby up the road overnight, and get hammered in the pub.(Horse and Jockey■■?)
When we got to Heysham they had a framework with hooks to hang the strapping wires of the bricks, the crane would lift about 8 slices at a time, it was a H&S man’s dream :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Regards Kev.

Hi Kev, Your right Stewatbey bricks, Baxters started to haul them when Bob Kinghorn took over, We used to collect the bricks which were nearly all hand ball in those days for John T Bell Ltd wich in later years became Bellways who in fact are still going, We used to deliver to Chapel Park Estate Westerhope, The G/F Was a bloke called Matty Smails & he put every one on to offload them he was a great bloke to know, We also used to do some to the Pill factory at Morpeth wich was Brims site another good tip plenty off lads to help out, The good old days, Regards Larry.

Thanks to bazztrucker for the pic
