Two views of a busy A9 junction at Alness, this eedjit flew past, okay the traffic was quieter than normal, but he/she kept on the wrong side all the way round the bend, speed limit 60 here and plenty of hazard warnings
Oilreader …its changed some since I frequented that neck of the woods in an Atkinson Borderer while with Jack Noble,s "Elgin Transport " great days around the stills with malt or coal or pickin up hogsheads/butts or pellets …sometimes pit props ■■? often think back fondly !!

Hi Oily… thanks for the obituary of Jack Noble … he was a good boss I was at the Arbroath yard some times we had an Elgin night trunk 2 trips up and back a hard shift but only now and again he brought in a few Magrius Duetz units before he had the Saviem dealership … I left around then 77 went to work in Saudi when I finished up there I went up to see Jack and bought the attached … I,m impressed with your flicker page …I see lots of changes have taken place over the last 30 odd years …except the tattie digger on the island I wonder is the railway carriage cafe up near Huntly still there or by passed like athing else… I run on a Noble O licence till mine came through from Aberdeen ■■?

Hi backsplice, cheers for the pic …the tattie digger on Berneray, the Outer Hebrides is a different world, laid back and welcoming. I went to school at Huntly and served my apprenticeship in the town, left the area in 1955 for greener grass, there was indeed an old railway carriage transport café on the A96, 4 miles north of Huntly at Cairnie namely The Ashgrove, sadly now closed,Ashgrove Cafe A96 - OVERNIGHT PARKING - Trucknet UK it was the only one on the 100 odd miles between Aberdeen and Inverness.

Buzzer … I,ll throw a wide guess into the ring …like oily say its definitely Scottish the cottage is a give away so the AEC MARSHALL is late 50,s and the load of empty fish boxes leans towards NE coast Buckie /Findochty /Portsoy that neck of the woods anyway …empties on the back so no time lost they came off as full ones went on the front …I think thats it …
