Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

This picture popped up today and it took me back, must have been early 80’s. Bought that F89 of a woman for three grand, her CB handle was “mother trucker” IIRC, cheers Buzzer.

Cracking pics from kevmac47 and Stanfield  McKelvies eh, I remember them before they disappeared most likely into TDG, others from that area (Lanarkshire), Sam Anderson of Newhouse and at ■■■■■■■■■■■■ InterCity, all very busy heading south.

From Oz, no badge so I’m thinking Ford… Louisville underneath  , somebody will put me right

International. Not sure of the model though. Colin.

Hi guys,

It’s an Aussie built International S Line, they are built Aussie tough and are a good rugged truck, either a 350 or 400 ■■■■■■■ with a 15 speed fuller. Easy to work on an cheep to get parts for. There are still quite a few on the road both here and in Oz,not a bad run as most would be nearly 30 years old.

Hi Oily, Here is Baillie Bros Foden in Dingwall High St on 23 June 2014. Have you seen or read Jock Baillie’s life story in his book "Its only an old bus but its a Dooor o Wir Ain " ? An excellent story of rags to riches in a transport world free of all the petty regulations endured today oftenreferred to on this page as the "Good Old Days.
Cheers Leyland 600

Just googled the John Baillie book and found this
gdicm.wordpress.com/2013/08/26/ … must-read/
He was born in the parish of Grange, used to be Banffshire, now Moray, that stirs my marbles as nearby is a place called Knock and during my apprenticeship days my boss(furniture and removals) had a farm there and it was not unusual for me to be carting farm stuff in the Bedford van, including loads of straw etc to and from neighbouring farms  this would have been 1953ish, if you arrived around meal times there was always a place at the table, great days.

This looks a bit o’ a mismatch looking at the steeper part of the track, then I thought the shovel is the extra brake, then again it doesn’t look connected, mebbe that’s an airline on the drawbar
