1965 Routemaster - Holt station North Norfolk - release that hand brake if you’ve had 3 Shredded Wheat!

And keep yer finger ends clear of yon pre select gearchange slots. Very painful :frowning: .

Thanks to adr, Gardner 120, lurpak and kevmac47 for the pics

The AEC Bridgemaster and the pre-selector gearbox, well my favourite city bus by a country mile was the AEC Regent and Renown with the same gearbox, got the brain cells going and if I remember correctly the earlier Regents had a hand brake on the right hand side that you pushed on, some sort of safety angle to this I think, meant you had a job leaving the cab until you pushed it forward and on, rounded metal ball on the handle top by the ratchet release, other ex busmen may know better.

From the north, an 04 plate Scania, what a beautiful sound this motor had pulling away.

This was yesterday afternoon on the Mill House R/Bout top of the Bowes Incline slip road A1M Washington / Birtley. Nothing on the local news or papers so presume driver was OK. Took the pictures about 5 hours after the incident, the police appear to have just taped it off and left it for the night.

Oily, I’m really looking after you today, I visited Beamish agricultural display yesterday, here’s a few you might enjoy. Regards Kev.

Borrowed this of EBAY, we had a driver who had his windscreen full of flags which the fitter always had to remove before an MOT to avoid a failure, cheers Buzzer.

In my youth a neighbouring farmer had a Field Marshall, what a bugger to start that was, seeing these videos brings it all back to me, none of his two sons were ready volunteers with the handle, when using a cartridge was suggested “they cost money, are ye men or mice” was the farmer’s reply.
