Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

you say its rubbish ,it look,s good to me any more ,cheers Mark

Nowt wrong with that shot considering you were under a dust sheet covering the tri-pod !!! It’s a long while since traffic was that light during the day plus the days before the centre barriers were installed. And,I believe away in the background behind Warton crag it could be Whitbarrow scar and quarry face. You’ll have to get yourself a better lense David !Cheers Dennis.

You can’t see the motorway from where I took that picture these days Dennis, the hedge has grown so high.
It was my first 35mm camera and I got an out of date slide film from somebody with a stall at Steamtown. After
that film it was back to black and white for over 20 years.

One for today, Buzzer.

I started my driving career driving an Albion like this for Moores kitchen cabinets at Thorpe Arch near Wetherby. You could have a big Luton when you had a non-tilting cab

A couple of new Renaults to keep things going

Bm made a nice job of that t range

Leyland 600 the Leyland milk tanker of S Js was based in Ingleton in the 50 s it was driven by Bob Rucastle and my dad drove it some nights after he’d done a days work Bob used to load it for him at Libby’s and he would go to Rotherham with it to make extra cash, coincidently we’ve just decided to send all our motors to S Js for all our tests and tachos

My contribution for today, Buzzer.

Cheers Ade

the ancient Leyland comet was on the fleet of fletchers of ibstock Leicestershire…I think it was a brick lorry. It is about 1957 vintage.

Cattle Wagon Man’s photo of “Little and Large” shows how lorries have become over-sized, ridiculous, complicated fashion statements these days.
That nimble little F86 would do 90% of road haulage in the UK and Continent today and a competent driver could fix it should it let him down. Jim.

How about this for the archetypal 8 legger brick lorry.- Seen at Biddenden Kent. 2013.

That’ll do very nicely, a real man’s machine. Thank you for posting it.

Someones been very busy with the spit n polish` treatment on this fine traction engine.

Note the nameplate , - “King of the Road” .

Photographed at the ■■■■■■■ Steam Gathering .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Gives me the shivers thinking about all those bricks handballed at building sites! :unamused:
