Yesterday crossing M27 just before J9 with me horses, not a lot of trucks and a bit distant Buzzer.
Re; the Scottish Reiver, here’s a similar one photographed at Peterborough Truckfest in the late '80s, definitely down from Scotland, but even so it could be an age related re-registration rather than the original. It had the Albion 4 pot diesel, hard work with a load on I expect!

G D Cunninghams Reiver was originally a Caledonian motor and still carries her original reg she has been around the rally circuit for many years now and was usually accompanied by a Scammell 8 wheeler in the same livery with a load of whisky butts on board (empty). Eddie.
PS Just noticed the blue Trader on the Isle of Uist is a Dumfries reg wonder who had that one.
Hi Eddie I reckon you are right that it is a genuine Caledonian motor, you and I have seen too many of them around in their working days to be mistaken.
Cheers Leyland 600.
Yes I agree its a Cally motor I used to see them in the Carnation Milk Factory in the 50/60s Era, Regards Larry.

Meikle Tennant owned the Atki and wanted it back after the accident but was refused it by his insurance co. despite having had his photo with the motor on the insurance companies advertisement. He got a phone call one morning from a traffic policeman friend at Penrith to tell him his motor was heading down the M6 on the back of a Hingleys motor. It looked as though a bit of a fiddle was worked there. Eddie.
Who was his insurance co.? I always got the first chance to buy a write off back, which I did on a number of occaisions over the years,as long as the Insurers got a fair price for the salvage the were happy,if I re-call they paid us out minus the agreed price of the salvage at times then we stuck the wreck in our “graveyard” and proceeded to rob it for spares for the other Scanias on the fleet. Can’t understand how Mr. Tennant has been stuffed as he should have had first shout on the write off surely.Cheers Bewick.
Seems odd, does it not Dennis…but then there is a “story” to the ex Tom Lowe Big J that they have!!!
Are we getting a tad old you and I ■■?
Cheerio for now.
It was a well know insurance company the name was something to do with Farming I forget what it was but Meikles motor was in a photo in their advertisement which was often in the vintage magazines. Aye to say he was an angry man was an understatement. Eddie.
PS Maybe NFU.
Buzzer:
but endless pictures of motorway service scenes and trucks on motorways do nothing for me what so ever.
Hi Buzzer, Welcome to the club at last, good photo by the way.
Caught this one this morning going south on the A76 never seen ALE up this way before, obviously left the trailer somewhere. Eddie.
