O.K. , “Buzzer” ,
Here`s my thoughts .
First one , - unsure , possibly an Albion.
Second along , - Karrier .
Next , - Ford (V8 ?) or Popular
van.
Last along , - Commer Superpoise
(?).
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
won’t be a V8 in that Ford Anglia. More like a 933cc?& 3 forward gears. I’ve driven all of the above, except for the Karrier.
Another golden oldie.
Here’s a couple more, Buzzer.
Grand lot of old wagons thanks to mappo, Lawrence Dunbar, Buzzer and Guesty44, also lurpak and coca cola kid with today motors
a few more taken at D R Macleod’s yard Stornoway a week or two ago, majority taken on the Sabbath which is an observed day of rest on the Isle of Lewis.

I remember a Pioneer plant at Parkgate,Rotherham.I used to go with driver Ken Barr in this delivering stone for the concrete plant late 60s early 70s.The plant closed a long time ago.
mappo:
Another golden oldie.I can remember when Jakey Adams got this Mk 5 new It had a 11.3 Engine & a 6 speed box, The driver, Charlie Quickfall got it brand new, He drove an old 1942 Reg 6 wheel Atki before that & he said to me that he preferred that instead of this new one, He left Jakeys not long after that & went to drive for Smiths of Eccles in Manchester, It was then driven by Smudger Smith, Then the late John Maccena,Then, it was replaced by the new Model 6 wheeler Marshall which of course could run at 24 T gross & giving a better payload, The good old days in my book, Great picture keep them coming
please, Regards Larry.

Great photo of the AEC Mustang, Looks like it may have been supplied by Oswald Tillotsons it has a Burnley Reg, Keep them rolling Regards Larry.
Hi Larry, Memories of some long delays to get unloaded at Newcastle Quayside sheds particularly 22 Shed where the foreman was an awkward (zb) back in the 1960s and early 70s. With regard to the Scottish BRS Albion HD I remember them well running down through Carlisle late 1950s most were registerd XS xxxx and had cabs built by A.C. Penman of Heathall, Dumfries. I guess you are right about the Burnley registered AEC Mustang looks like an Oswald Tillotsen cab also.
Incidently a retired couple moved to a bungalow near me a few years ago who came from Burnley and in conversation with them one day discovered that the lady of the house had been secretary to the managing director of Oswald Tillotsen Ltd. Sadly both became seriously ill within a short time of each other and passed away.
Cheers, Leyland 600

These Mk 5s of Smilers came from Tillotsons of Burnley, Tommy Smiles maintained that he got a better deal from them than he did from the Newcastle Agent which was Hodgsons Garage Benton in those days, He also got all of his Dodges from Tillotsons too, Regards Larry.

I believe that Tillotsons were owned by Hanson and Holdsworth at one time, not sure what happened in later years as Hansons were big Atky users which they got from Comberhill Garages,I wonder if they had an “interest” in Comberhill ? Cheers Bewick.
