Oily, slightly off thread but definitely from the past and cutting edge technology in its day!    HMS Trincomalee. built in 1812, now restored and on show in the maritime museum in Hartlepool. Sorry I didn’t get all of the masts in, if I’d thought more about the shot I could have climbed the stairs behind me and made a decent job of it.   :unamused: :unamused: Regards Kev.

Thanks to adr, cattle wagon man, Soldier z, Travis. and kevmac47

Hi Kev an Informative video here about the Trincomalee youtube.com/watch?v=sFiWdEBLfyE
The name Trincomalee rang a bell with me…I had a great mate, bit of a fatherly figure to me when I started on car delivery and right up to his passing. He was in the British Army in India and one of his postings was to Trincomalee in the then Ceylon, he was fluent in the lingo and boy could he make a curry, so you posted the picture of as ship and the name of which has rekindled some very fond memories for me, cheers for that  enjoy the vid.

A Slovakian registered Merc in Dingwall, involved with fish I guess and most likely The Edinburgh Salmon Co at Dingwall.

Hi Kevmac , I was aboard the Trincomalee one day in June 1996 when I took a coach party to Hartlepool , Jacksons Landings and the Historic Quay. I was facinated to see hand painted pictures of Indian men cutting huge baulks of timber with hand operated two person cross cut and rip saws while preparing timbers for the ships contruction. They must have been hard days. Hartlepool Quay and museum is well worth a visit.
Cheers Leyland 600.
