Thanks, 240. That’s put me right again!
I was just working from the notes in my anorak pocket

Now you’re pushing it! Just goes to prove, you can make anything fit anywhere providing you’ve got a big enough hammer.

Owner driver Leon Salt.
Is Leon Salt from Matlock?
Cheers Chris (adr) fine varied lot of photos
The following pictures are from the Imperial War Museums archive, (civvy street) and the featured driver is Fred Horrod on a return trip, London to Manchester and back, the year is 1944.

Handing over to the day man Fred Sutcliffe for tipping.

edit missed this one which is Fred arriving in Manchester
Loading Fred’s wagon for the return journey with among other things boxes of Calvert’s Tooth Powder. the second pic, I’m guessing is at Fred’s digs.
Oily
edit another one I missed , Fred leaving Manchester
The return trip and a café somewhere between Manchester and London, looks like a pot belly stove in the foreground, I can feel the heat . The removal van in the second pic belongs to Clifford Hunt Removals of Market St Crewe, can’t hazard a guess at the make of the machine
Oily
edit another one missed Fred back in London at Walnut Tree Rd and chatting to the fitter.
Two old Leylands , both belonging to father-and-son hauliers T.K. Longthorne , Skipton.
Photographed during the commercial vehicle procession of the Leyland Festival , a couple of years ago.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
One for you from the present(must say I personally prefer the older lorries they have more charisma about them if thats the word I’m looking for)
O.K., “Stanfield” , so you dont find
em much older than this !
A W.W.1 Leyland , as it is being shunted for display into the B.C.V.M. car park for the Gathering
, last summer.

Steve they would not be looking over the top if you were driving that Crusader but you would need a net over the top so you did not loose too many and they would be getting out a different colour
Happy New Year to you mate
