Delivering in Croydon the other day, sun was shining :open_mouth: while I was tipping, left my bar of chocolate on the dash’ :unamused: & it melted, so put it up the hose when finished, minus 200c soon restored it to less gooey condition, took about 30 seconds  .

I hope you did a risk assessment on that procedure   H&S are watching you :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Regards Kev.

Well E 7 EGR. Is a Sunderland Reg & is most likely a cherished number, Because that model of Scania wasn’t about with an E plate, Regards Larry.

Cherished numbers are not geographical or age related, you can have anything as long as you pay the price and
the number is not newer than the vehicle. (provided nobody else has it of course)
The EGR Scanias were operated by West Midlands Police as far as I know.

I think EGR is Scania’s “Exhaust Gas Recycling” system, That vehicle is probably a Scania test vehicle on contract to Asda at Washington. Also, if my memory serves me correctly “the spy camera” motors in the Midlands were provided to the police by Scania, FOC. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: Regards Kev.

EGR’s and DPF’s…inventions of the devil himself. Down at my local garage at the moment there is a jaguar V6 engine on the floor, the DPF has wrecked it. Used V6 for a Jaguar? £2000+ :imp:

Whilst on a recent holiday on the island of Malta, my camera was put to a useful purpose, - spotting old timers .

This immaculate Bedford was parked on the roadside , but no driver was present to be asked for details, etc.
Not many of these old Bedfords remain in use nowadays ,since Malta now has to abide by E.U. motoring regulations.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Hi cwm, thanks for posting the pic  …the Bedford before being spruced up, a 1962 TJ5 the details reveal.
EU regulations eh, Malta one of the few or only place you could go and see british wagons of yesteryear still working, like turning the clock back :frowning:

With regards to those old Bedfords, in 1997 i did my first load to Portugal after getting stitched up by Frans Maas on a regular Swiss reload Strasbourg job. (A 3.5 day job ended up turning into a 14 day job)
There were no loads for UK from Strasbourg depot and they couldnt find a load from Swiss to UK :open_mouth: , i ended up getting sent to Italy with 4 collections around Milan and doing 4 deliveries in Portugal, Lisbon Coimbra and Porto x2.
After getting the deliveries off, i had to wait a day in Frans Maas Porto for a load to the UK, and was sent back down to Coimbra to reload these old Bedford chassis, engines and cabs, i took them to a place in or near Birmingham. Im sure a bloke told me they were going to be refurbed and sent to India or somewhere similar.

Hi “Oiltreader” ,
Many thanks for posting the second photograph of the Maltese-reg. Bedford .
Sadly , there are fewer of the older ex-British commercials to be seen on Malta & Gozo compared to 5 years ago.

As for the old buses , ( can I mention that word on TNUK ■■ ) , theyve all gone , - apart from a few cherished ones remaining on private hire. The bendybuses were all withdrawn in August following 3 of them catching fire within a fortnight :unamused:

I`d better stop now ,…before the TNUK anti-b*s brigade start to complain.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.
