More mini steam engines and again thanks to Barry Skeates, also great dedication of the owners in keeping “steam” alive.

I’m retiring this weekend, so I will be able to spend more time taking photos. Look out for me at the end of the A194M White Mare Pool, Wardley and Gateshead area. Regards Kev.

Cracking pics again kevmac47 cheers for that

Heres to a long happy and healthy retirement Kev, my own was 20 years ago and there still isn’t enough time in the day to do what needs to be done, the work ethic is still there but with the limbs frequently refusing to respond to messages from the brain it now takes a lot longer.
All the best

I thoroughly agree, retirement is highly reccomended. Cheers Haddy

Saw these two today, just outside of Barcelona.

There is two main drawbacks to retirement,
It doesn’t start soon enough and it doesn’t last long enough and also the overtime premium rates are crap!!

I think like the rest of us you will soon find that there still isn’t enough time in a day so set out determined to enjoy it.And take every penny from the government that you can,
in the main it’s our generation that’s paid into it.

All the best for the future.

Cheers Bassman

Best wishes Kev in your well earned retirement, I will get you a very large malt when I see you at the next gathering & toast your good health, Regards Larry.

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes, I’ll take you up on that malt Larry, first chance I get!!! I was parked just off the A69 at Haltwhistle today when a Northumbrian water tanker pulled alongside, the driver wished me a happy retirement!! It was mickV64 (Mick Varley) from these forums. We have four of these cf85’s so he took a chance that it was me. Of course I had to take a shot of his motor. Regards Kev.

Evening you lucky “so, and so`s”, Retirement…oily, Im well past it, and still can not work out how to do it!

I can connect with the limbs not working to the Brain`s instructions…took me a full 5 minutes to get my left leg to go up the steps into my Deere at 04.30 this morning…the B… wanted to stay in bed!!!

Enjoy your “leisure time”, I for one thoroughly enjoy the pictures that you take, and they always bring back memories, many of which take me through the day in real contentment!!

Thank you all, the effort you take is really appreciated…

Cheerio for now.

All the best for your retirement, Kev. It’s the best job I’ve ever had even though the wages are cr*p.

It’s a new career Kev, make the most of it, live for the day and be sure to make every day count

P.S. it’s the best job I’ve ever had. Winters are best, no more battling with ice, snow, and fog. And in the summer…have a stroll, have a pint, ogle the young ladies, (old fellas are allowed to do that)

This 1917 picture got me thinking, getting on for a hundred years later, electric road going vehicles including haulage wagons are back, albeit in the early stages for haulage, in another 100 years, I wonder, driverless lithium battery or nuclear cell powered motors, not forgetting levitation type transport. Hey I remember as a kid getting Eagle comics handed on from a schoolmate, and gazing in wonder at the middle page spread of transport of the future, Spaceships and the like…never , well that’s now old hat, evolution in transport is inevitable.

A big thanks to Rod Simmonds for allowing me to use from his collection and post on here, the cabbed dolly came across to me as a bit novel, but then again others may be aware of such a thing, anyway from NZ.

Chris,

I think you are a bit behind the times —Tin Hat??
Surely it it should be a hard hat and hi-viz jacket, remember “Elf & Safety” rules now ,I don’t know how so many of us made it to retirement without “Elf & Safety” other than our own common sense.
After 40 odd years paying in I want something back , whether they bleat or not, and there is a hell of a lot of the UK’s present population who have paid absolutely nothing in to the countries coffers ,so as far as I am concerned , those of our generation who paid for all those years want as much back as they can get.
Sorry , Chris , it’s not a rant, but I feel we are entitled to it.

Cheers Bassman

Here’s my contribution for today. ( Last working day tomorrow)      Regards Kev.

Enjoy your last day Kev,
You will probably have a tear in your eye as you leave,
You have had a lot of good advice about retiring on the thread from the mature lads,
Im sure you will keep yourself busy and get a lot of enjoyment out of retirement.
Good luck and good health to you and your young lady on your retirement.

Regards

F TROOP.
