Welcome back, Oily. Great photos as usual.

Southdown Leyland Leopard with Thos Harrington of Hove Cavalier or Grenadier bodywork. I cannot just remember which model this was. I drove identical Leopards working for Ribble often on Anglo-Scottish express work in 1963-4. Lovely coaches to drive no power steering, mechanical handbrake and 4 speed box with two speed axle powered by the legendary Leyland 600.
Cheers L 600.

I always thought that the Southdown fleet was one of the smartest.

Welcome back, Oily. Great photos as usual.

Hi ROF, thanks for that, spent the last week exploring The Hebrides, yet again, aye a truly magical place. friendly folk, fantastic scenery and machinery of a bygone age, to say I was in my element is a understatement.
Poodling along we came upon this scene, so went and knocked the door for permission to take photos, what a greeting from crofter Angus Macdonald, as it turned out we had a common interest, machinery and music, a couple hours in his company went all to quickly, with a hands on experience and discussion of his collection, being invited into his home, offered tea and to cap it all the man is a talented musician, so we were well and truly entertained, we left with a heartfelt invitation to return.
The second pic…rolling back the years with the 1951 Fordson Major, the first diesel tractor in the Uists, he got a silencer and stuck it on the manifold, hit the button, it fired into action immediately. I took photos of most of his other machines, including a rusting Allen mower, which I was able to give him information about its origins at Cowley, Oxford.

Hi turps, the Norton has a Geoff Duke and IOM TT look about it, my only ever motorbike was a James Cadet, that was in 1962.
