Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Really smart AEC. Would that be on a Militant chassis?

What a shame to see Gillards have gone white. Not quite as bad as plain white but they had one of the more noticable liveries

“Barn” find. Get your “new old stock” now whilst stocks last! LHD F12 available, one only!

Retired Old ■■■■:
For Turps & Windrush: Spotted this one powered (!!!) by a P3 today. Also heard it running, definitely sounds like a Perkins!

Oh no, another of the 'orrible things!
Here’s pictures of a couple more taken in the '70s, my mate collected them, he had 6. They’re both typical shots, the 2 stroke petrol van broken down, the P3 minibus on tow behind our trusty 107 Landrover. You might find the caravan on the back of my Albion interesting, it’s a 1935 Car Cruiser, it started the journey behind the Trojan, but that died at the first slight slope it came to, so continued it’s journey to the rally and home again hung on the back of my lorry.
Excuse the quality of the pics, I couldn’t afford then to run the Albion and have a good camera!
Bernard

Cheers to truckfing, gazzer and albion1938 for the pics

Sticking with Trojan or like you say with regard to performance… flogging a Trojan Horse :unamused: oh dear.

Hi, seeing your photo of this Trojan pick up reminds me of my local milk man many years ago who had the van version the Perkins engine sounded like a bag of hammers, however one of the local solicitors being a wealthy man bought a Bristol sports car which was supposed to be the fastest thing in ■■■■■■■■ One day when going home for lunch the Bristol was struggling to get up a not to steep hill on the way out of town when Billy the milkman caught up to him and overtook the struggling Bristol (I think in must have had a 4LK Gardner in it ) Word soon got out and the guy never lived the incident down always getting his leg pulled about his cars performance.
Cheers Leyland 600

Kessock bridge northbound carriageway is closed (April to end of this month) for re-surfacing, in fact it has been taken right down to the metal plate, which has been treated and guaranteed for another 30 years. Southbound queues can be considerable during peak times, outside lane is a clearway for buses and HGVs, merging at the bridge, took this pic a week or two ago whilst sitting in the queue.

Can’t remember if I’ve posted this before, anyway thanks to Len Rogers, and the Scania looks a tidy machine.

Here’s one from your neck of the woods Oily. This was Lancaster services a couple of weeks ago. The two Dafs have the usual bumper rot. Why don’t the makers do something about it?? I ran an 85 in the 90’s it was just the same. I cured the problem by having it shot blasted and plastic coated before repainting . Regards Kev.

Let`s combine   the " Past & Present" theme with this photograph I took at the
British Commercial Vehicle Museum outdoor event, Leyland a couple of years ago.

Thanks to Graham Mitchell, a couple from the NE. The story goes that the Bedford spent 40 years in New Zealand and was repatriated, so credit to whoever did the good deed.
