That’s too modern to be called a potaloo, Where I live we called them Thunder Boxes Eh Ha Ha, Regards Larry.
My Old Man’s boss called it, “The Little House”. It went on holiday all over the country with his caravan on the back of the firm’s petrol-engined A-model Bedford tipper.
An old Manchester based tipper operater from the 50/60s.
James Bacon Ltd Blackley Manchester.with the kind permission of Linda Bacon who still runs a business from these very same premises today.
Nice old A-model there, John, but it’s a more modern one than my dad’s with the wing-top sidelamps. The firm did have one with these lights but it had Perkins P6 power instead of the petrol Bedford. I remember that it had the 4-speed synchromesh gearbox but the old fella still double-declutched through every gear, just because that was the only way he knew!
Brilliant pics John(Stanfield) the b&w photos of them days sparks the memory and takes me back to dwell in nostalgia.
Took this old dear today, nosing over a fence into a backyard, might go and have a proper look one day.
