Bit of a struggle on the hills though, 2 speed box in both forward and reverse.

Looking at many of the truck cabs from the late 50s and 60s, the windscreens were often very deep, presumably with good visibility. The modern trucks that deliver to me seem to have much higher dash areas and proportionately shallower screens. Has this been done for driver protection and safety over the years?
