Old files and folders are still in a mess and likely to remain that way so apologies if I re-post, like perhaps the Scania, which is always worth another look anyway.
OilyDepending on your version of Windows 7 you can install XP as a virtual PC and use your older software on it.
If you have W7 Pro or Ultimate you can download everything you need to install it here:microsoft.com/uk/windows/vir … nload.aspx
If you have the basic W7 version you can still install virtual PC but you will need your own XP disk to install XP mode on it.
You need to remember though, that a virtual PC needs to be treated like a proper computer and needs virus protection if you go on the Internet with it, plus all the updates etc.
If you need any more info you can PM me for it - good luck - Steve
Hi Steve, I really appreciate your offer of help, the Windows 7 I have is Home Premium, which was an upgrade from Vista and before that XP on a previous PC. My internet transport photo collecting started in 2000 and was all still on my latest HDD. I also had a recovery partition and an external backup plus Clickfree DVD backup of earlier stuff. I am the sole architect of what happened when attempting to re-organise the Library files (which included music) I inadvertently deleted a lot of stuff that I should have left well alone (a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing… Einstein) The system crash when recovery was in place messed everything up, but I have still been able to retrieve a lot of stuff, annoyingly not in file or folder order which will take time, a wee bit every day
Cheers
Oily
