Itās a Renault Prairie, the only standard all-French 4x4 pickup of all times:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_ColoraleIn the 1980s, Peugeot did commercialise a 4x4 version of their 504 pickup, but it was a conversion made by Dangel.
I seem to recall Dangel did a āBreakā (estate car) version too. I think the Gendarmerie had some.
Link to āBon Coinā, search for Dangel. Some newer Berlingos, and as you rightly say, older breaks.
Warning! Prepare a stiff drink before viewing prices of any French 2nd hand vehicles.

Portuguese used vehicles the same Franglais!

This is Standishgate in Wigan town centre, which used to be the A49, the main
route for transport heading north or south in the past. It is now a " Traffic Free "
road, but it always seems to be crowded by vans, large and small, delivering.

Iāve seen this little gem a couple of times lately, but until today I couldnāt get a shot of it.
Itās a local reg. (South Shields), this was taken today on the promenade at Seaburn so it hasnāt travelled far. Regards Kev.

What a cute camper. I hope it has disc brakes added and a Fiat twin cam engine and box fitted, both popular mods to give the old Moggie a bit more stop and go!

Why when an MGB 1.8 or a Rover V8 will fit.

'Cos the Fiat motor fits in easily and very nicely.

2Took this shot yesterday when shopping at my usual local supermarket. Looks rather healthy for its age.1It bears a 1960 Wolverhampton registration, but is LHD.
0Would it have been improted specially from the Continent (new or second-hand), or were they supplied new like that?
I suspect it was imported from the US. Those bumpers were US spec I believe. Probably worth quite a reasonable sum! But not much fun to driveā¦

Thanks. Imported in 1960? Wasnāt it available new at price list at that time in the UK?

I guess imported much more recently when they became cultish, thus why I suspect it being of some value. VWs were not that popular in the UK in the 60ās and 70ās.
OK, but then why a 1960 regā?

I am no expert here but I think the authorities issue what are known as āage relatedā plates, so an imported 1960 vehicle would have a 1960 number. Alternatively it might be a personal number that the owner transferred to this VW. Doubtless someone here will know the rules better than I.
Yes indeed. I reckon it was probably bought in Germany by a British officer serving in the āRhine Armyā and he either bought it in Germany and had it re-registered here; or he bought it here but specified LHD. My memory of the '60s and '70s is that the camper van versions of the Combi were quite popular here even if they were less common as panel vans (a J4 was cheaper!) - my uncle had one in the late '60s so I tended to notice them.

Looks a fair old line up of working Massey combines. Was that a proper working day for MF?

Lookās like a working show as the combines are all different MF models and the first has a number attached, its amazing how some of this old farming kit is kept in working order, Buzzer
