I think I’ve found a way of getting round the rail strikes this week. I’ll bet it’s even got a bar!

If the bar is open, I think its your turn to get the drinks in, Cheers, Ray.

It’d be my pleasure!

It’s a Renault Prairie, the only standard all-French 4x4 pickup of all times:

In the 1980s, Peugeot did commercialise a 4x4 version of their 504 pickup, but it was a conversion made by Dangel.

Monstrous 1951 Kenworth powered by a no less monstrous 35 litre 600 bhp petrol V12 engine:

I seem to recall Dangel did a “Break” (estate car) version too. I think the Gendarmerie had some.

Link to “Bon Coin”, search for Dangel. Some newer Berlingos, and as you rightly say, older breaks.
Warning! Prepare a stiff drink before viewing prices of any French 2nd hand vehicles.

Franglais, If you think French occas’ (second hand cars) are expensive take a peek at the Portuguese second hand market. But then they do seem to look after their cars. But you would at those prices…

I’ve found a 2nd way to beat the rail strikes:

The prices you refer to are what they ask, but one must negociate. The French usually think there will always be a fool to pay unrealistic prices, but some ad’s are still there in magazines months later! And it’s the same for cars, trucks, houses, everything!

If there’s an “official” price for second hand cars or trucks, vintage vehicles are worth what a buyer is prepared to put in them according to the value it has for him. Ex: his first car or truck when he was 20.

But, yes indeed, I’m often surprised to see how cheap second hand vehicles are in UK compared to France!

They’ve grown very popular in France. Is it the same in UK?

I worked on a few of those BMC sweepers, some had two driving positions and the underfloor engine fitted and the left hand position had a central throttle whereas the right hand one was conventional with the throttle on the right. The brake and clutch master cylinders had to be removed just to remove the rocker cover from under the wheel arch. I managed to burn the wiring loom out on a lhd one, looms for those were not common here in the UK so I wasn’t popular with the foreman!

Sadly Ernest Thorpe are calling time which is a shame for such a long established company. :frowning:

So I’ve heard. Shame.

That Greyhound driver looks as though he tried to cross some self raising bollards. I bet that was what he said at the time too.

BTW, found out the other day that they are now owned by a German company Flixbus. I was trying to help my son, who had been visiting here, get to his new job to find accommodation. I found out that there is a direct route from Bordeaux to Malaga. 18 hours on the road, €60. But he had already booked by air. Limoges to Stanstead, Stanstead to Malaga. Missed the connection and had to spend the night in the airport hotel. :unamused:
