Dare I mention the B word Buzzer? I will say no more on that except to say that I, and no one I know buys anything at all from the UK anymore. Some have tried and end up with demands on the doorstep for customs dues and handling charges. Sad but true. There is one thing that I can buy freely though, download books for my Kindle, thank goodness for small mercies.
No pleasure for me to say so, we both have many family members, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in England and know full well how hard life is.

Sentiments seconded. My subscription to Private Eye now comes to me via a distribution centre in Paris to avoid the customs problems (smart people at the Eye)! As for ordering anything else from the UK… It all goes in the “too difficult” tray.

Very true David,I’ve stopped using Amazon UK,now I use Hagglezon which informs me which of the Amazon countries offers the same item, but without import charges and usually a more cost effective delivery cost too.

Never heard of them David, but that is more or less what I do myself these days, checking what I would like to buy on A UK then going to find on either France or Germany.

A couple of pictures of this Mercedes-Benz artic on the A577 at Pemberton, west of Wigan.
This steel tube stockholder is based in Miry Lane, Wigan, on the site of what was Pagefield
Engineering, makers of specialist equipment and Refuse Collection lorries. During the 1930s,
Pagefield designed and manufactured most of the foul air extraction equipment for the first
Mersey Tunnel.

Ray Smyth.

Great old photos Buzzer, The one of Collins of St Helens were still going in the 60s, I used to deliver bales of Danish Bacon to their Depots in Preston, Blackburn, St Helens, & Chester, They had a fleet of their own delivery vans Blue with large yellow letters on, Thanks for posting them, Larry.

I take it you mean the B word is Boris, could not possibly mean any thing else could it as that was the subject I was discussing but then you Spardo generally go off on a tangent, Buzzer

You mean Boris anything but BREXIT the best leader the LibDems have ever had.
The irony life is hard here in large part because Bozo the clown continues to tie us to the Paris Accord and it’s carbon tax regime and 20% VAT on the carbon tax.
All to force us to go all electric at 30p per kWh.So that he can export the ocean of our own oil and gas that we are sitting on, to France and Germany among others.
That useless waste of space Boris.

But France and Germany obviously have no problems with importing our oil and gas. While telling us that we have to go all electric and their LibDem stooge Boris being more than willing to oblige.Together with the ongoing ‘payments’ for the privilege of more EU imports that we can make for ourselves and still being ruled by Brussels.

I’ll look them up then. Do you buy from marketplace sellers? I have had a bad experience with a Spanish one and now will only buy if Amazon is at least the deliverer and prefer to have them as vendor also. I tend to prefer France though as if a return is needed they will send pre-paid labels and I just drop it into the local PO.
