Wollaton Park Gate almost opposite, there used to be a small police station there I think, where I produced my documents a day late, back in the mists of time.
And also opposite a big new building, was that where Ford and Slater used to be? (Gazsa?)
The Rose and Crown next to that was where my stepson had his wedding reception and I got a kiss from my new sister in law, much to the chagrin of her husband who hated us for running off to Italy in a White Trux lorry.

Thanks to Buzzer for the photos  and the craic’s going well

I think it may say Matador on the rad.

Chris says it may be a Maharaja and Dave says it could be a Matador.

I wonder if it’s just wearing a random badge!

Maharajas were made by Maudslay but it is true that for a while after AEC took them over in 1948, they kept the names. But the Maharaja was a three-axle 13-ton rigid. Maudslay’s 4-wheel tractive unit was called a Maharanee.

If it’s a Matador - and I must say that looks to be what’s written on the radiator - why hasn’t it got a front end diff?

As it’s a bonneted tractive unit in the picture, it could well be a ‘bitsa’ of course.

I thought it said Mandator but with a third look, I’m pretty sure it says Matador.
Going back to the photo of the woman with the reins on the little girl: I can remember having those on as 5 or so year old.

Hi, the car is a Ford Consul. They were introduced from 1950 with a 1500cc engine and 3 speed column change gearstick.

Cheers, Ray Smyth.

Let’s get this show on the road. On their way to set up for the Nottingham Goose Fair in 1973. NMP
