Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Ray Smyth
A Bedford artic tanker from about 1949. I cant quite decide if the trailer is attached to
the Bedford with a 5th wheel coupling, or is it a Scammell-Hitch type coupling.
I found this picture on the Bootle History Forum.

I would think it would have been the Scammell Coupling back then, I could just make out the trailer guide wheels sitting on top of the ramps plus no landing legs on the trailer and the front end sits low into the Bedford chassis a 5th wheel would make it sit higher. Good photo though. Franky

Saw these Ford’s at a DAF dealership near Brescia, Italy last week, I quite like the look of the blue one with the GT40 stripes on it

Being in Italy means you’ve got a 50/50 chance of bumping into an Iveco

Those 3 look like they can’t make their mind up whether to look like a Volvo or scania

Turkish Fords, saw something like the lower ones at J 23 on the M5 a couple of weeks ago…

I would like to know more about the reliability of these good-looking Turkish Fords. A neighbour of mine has a Turkish-made Temsa schoolbus, nad says it needs repairs every two days. Only the ■■■■■■■ engine works properly, he says.

Have to say I wouldn’t be happy with that machine loading me if it was my own lorry, it looks like it would eat that scania for breakfast!
