Cheers for that Andrew  . A :sunglasses: looking machine that Peterbilt.
The Kenworth with the railway lines, I have a similiar picture load somewhere and the route from A to B,(Australia) the rails slung on the trestle for overlap are to allow transport of the standard rail lengths within the max state regs truck length. Spardo if he is looking in could probably add something from his time in Oz.

Here’s another two of Billy Bowie’s it’s big firm this now. You know the saying ONE MANS RUBBISH. Eddie.

" And now for something completely different ! " , as Monty Python said.

Here are 4 DAF front-ends, cobbled together like a " Monks chain" !! With non-original cab doors , theyve been cobbled together to arrive at their destination of sunny Malta, a few years ago.
Pete 359 will recognize the John Raymond cab door, and the Shropshire Lads will see Whitchurch gets a viewing .

Something different for oiltreader , too !

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

A bit more info.
This is a T604 of Slingshot Transport grossing at 140 tons taken at Alice Springs in 2009 with rails for the Alice Springs to Darwin line. The front trailer with the trestles is called a slingshot.

Cheers to kevmac47 and erfguy, also cattle wagon man for the Malta pic, what did they finish up as  i wonder.
Ingenuity is not wanting in Malta, here’s an example, a Scammell Handyman tipper.

Hi “oiltreader” ,
I am not too sure as to what happens to the chopped DAF front ends. Knowing the Maltese way of rebuilds,
the front ends might be welded-up to replace same on the tipper chassis. :unamused:
Here is a trio of E.R.Fs. One still bears the name of " H.F.P. ", from Boston, Lincolnshire.
Does anyone on here remember this firm ?

I have many more photos taken on holidays on Malta, if anyone wants them to be put on here.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Hi cattle wagon man Lets see your pictures and anybody else who wants to contribute, nothing pleases  me more than seeing other posters getting involved. When I started this thread, it was something like “if it has driven wheels, carries or pulls a load, lets see it”, almost a year later it is still the case, though in that time I have been made aware of the importance of copyright which will have significance when using stuff other than your own . I have spent a of bit time studying the the various licences by which people do allow their pictures to be used. In most cases I also write to them, thanking them for sharing and asking their permission where required and to a man they all come back positive, not only in appreciating my asking but that their pictures are being shown to those who will enjoy them.
Cheers

Bit of badge engineering on this one, an ERF ES8 240 but with a Seddon Atkinson identity.

A fancy looking motor Oily, nothing like what we had back in the 60s, but, like us with our B61s no space inside for him to stretch out  .

Slingshots weren’t invented back then as far as I know, Co-Ords from Alice Springs used to come into our depot in Katherine NT to refuel on their way north with B61s pulling A-triples.

All the trailers were flat, no headboards, and all the rails used to overhang front and back. No problem on the road but as they came round our yard to the pump all the rail ends used to catch each other making a constant clanging noise. They did do this very slowly but how they never snapped a chain I’ll never know. :unamused:

Beautifully restored B61s taken at Warragul 2006, thanks to Richard Mohr.

Can anyone from around the Sandbach, Cheshire area remember this Volvo FH 12 ?
The name " F. Hackney ( Sandbach ) Ltd." is still shown on the cab front panel .

The tanker was being used to supply fresh drinking water to hotels and restaurants throughout the island.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Here’s some mostly from Ayrshire & Galloway feel free to copy they are there to be shared. Eddie.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Cheers to erfguy and cattle wagon man and the Austin or Bedford comparison can be seen with this Allely’s pair.
