Just found this picture of the A562 near Widnes, on the Bootle Times Forum.
Apparently, it happened at 6.35 this morning. It looks like what was an 8 wheeler.

Thankfully, if he was wearing a belt, he had no more than a shock. Many years ago in Derby I saw a breakdown lorry try to get under a low bridge. The crane hit the bridge but did not separate, instead the front of the wagon was jerked upwards crushing tha cab completely. The driver did not survive.
I wonder if in this case the separation was sudden with the impact or if someone came out with a hot spanner. Whichever it was, waiting for it to be removed safely and damage to the gantry, obviously closed that motorway for the duration.
Of course this has to be one of the worst ones on the M20, completely demolished the bridge with a machine on the back of a lowloader, bloke in the daf in the middle lane was extremely lucky not to have been killed.
Was there not a motorbike under there too, I seem to recall he had a lucky escape. I remember quite a few years ago now heading South on the M1, one of Econofreight’s stopped on the North bound hard shoulder with an ■■■■■■ police car infront. The trailer had a silo on and I noticed one of the legs was missing, there it was lying on the inside lane a bit further back and just before a bridge with what seemed like the driver and policeman looking at it. The scene told the whole story! Franky.

It reads St Austell on the cab door, if you look on Google Earth now
this is Cornwall Commercials, Brighton Cross, Truro.
I expect those that live and work there know where it is.!!
Used to overnight regularly at Brighton X in the late 80s, when delivering to WH Smiths shops. Decent cafe in them days and can remember a small workshop being there.

Pretty certain there was a motorcycle involved and if you look at the photo I’m sure you can see a bike on it’s side, some lucky people that day I think.

Ay up! NMP off FB
Certainly would have made a clatter, but you can see there is very little crushing to the cab due to the cab mounts breaking away allowing the cab to move as a whole, a Scania design feature apparently. I recall a tipper driver being quite upset after his mate had stopped suddenly in front of him leaving a premises and he shunted into his trailer back end, not much of an impact only slight grille damage but the cab mounts had sheared, he couldn’t get over it! Franky.
Looks like the front axle brakes were a bit too harsh!
