Hope someone can help with this !! I have been having a clear out and found these long forgotten car and lapel badges. Most self explanatory and I appreciate they are not all transport related. The square one with what looks like a ■■■■■■■■ is in fact pre WW2 National Savings. It is the black one that has me puzzled, it appears to be made of some form of plastic, any ideas what organisation it represents ■■?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions Tyneside
Hi, The badge on the right of the bottom row is R.E.M.E. an army Corps, Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers.
Some of the lads said it meant " Rough Engineering Made Easy ", others said it meant " Ruin Every Maiden Everywhere "
Cheers, Ray.

Thanks Ray I knew that one, it came from my late Uncle who was in REME during his National Service in the fifties. There is another one on the pic which is DLI. ( Durham Light Infantry) Another Uncle was in that regiment but was killed in Italy in 1942 or 1943, he his buried in a Commomwealth grave out there.
Both of the above were my mothers’ brothers.

The Black badge is a Royal Marines WWII economy plastic badge, some badges by the later stages of WWII were made of plastic, of course the black colouring was to prevent being seen during ops as the normal bright metal badge could be easily seen. Even in the 70’s we had to spray our Beret badges matt black for Northern Ireland tours. I recognise the DLI and REME badge straight away, my Father was in the the 1st DLI 1944 - 53, these military badges all have the Kings Crown, when Elizabeth became Queen all cap badges were issued with a Queens Crown, older Kings crown badges are sought after, when Charles does eventually ascend the throne badges will again change to have the Kings Crown, for those that do have a royal crown above the badge there are a few Regiments that don’t. Hope that helped Tyneside, those are a nice collection of mixed badges. By the way the Savings ■■■■■■■■ badge is a good one to have, the design for obvious reasons had to be changed when the ■■■■■■■■ became the symbol of Nazism. Franky.
Thanks for the info Franky, looks like I have an interesting collection.

In the foreground Charles Alexander Reiver and James Hemphill AEC tanker that’s about it, seeing that many there and being winter time gets me thinking A74 and/or A6 might have been snow blocked.

Hi Suedhead I have studied the original print closely but cannot identify the vehicle, yes it looks like a sleeper cab but they had not been invented in 1967/8 only the “Cab Hotel” version. Perhaps it was meant to be a crew cab for removals or machinery/ office equipment etc installations. Sorry I can’t help further.
Leyland 600.
Thank you tonyj105 and Leyland600 for the replies
My initial thought was Bedford tk but the cab looks too big imo
Was the pic taken in 1967 ? looks earlier

01100s ?
Yes Suedehead from Pressed Steel Company plant at Swindon heading for Cowley I’d say have a faint recollection of the ramp that the transporter is on which if I remember rightly was over quite serious subsidence.
