Indeed, but not just Cortinas but Lotus Cortinas. The photo was possibly taken at the model change from Mk 1 to Mk 2, 1966-1967. The Trader had also been superseded by the D series at that date.

Not a pic from that period, as youve 3 models there mk1 pre airflow mk1 airflow and the mk 2 is a later 69 model so there a good 7 years between models

Well spotted, that man! I always preferred the Mk 1 myself. They were fun cars. Not that I ever owned one but I got to drive a few at work in the garage.
At that time (late 60s) we used to prepare second-hand sporty cars for a dealer. Otherwise I doubt I would have had any hope of getting my hands on nice cars.

But when you think modern hatchbacks have as much, if not more power, it puts it all in perspective!

That pic takes me back to my late teens (1974) when I owned a 1500E Cortina LGE784E. It was previously the company car of the transport manager for a Glasgow haulage firm called McNeills who later morphed into Arbuckle-Smith. Loved the car to bits.

Don’t remember a 1500E, was it possibly a 1600E ?

Regards John.

Might have been the GT. Definitely a 1500 though, two door model, red body with a black roof. I have a picture of it somewhere that I’ll try and find.

The Ford engine would be a 1500cc which was the pre crossflow head in MK1 Cortina. When the ■■■■■■ MK1 & Cortina mk2 came out engine was the Crossflow head in 1100, 1300 and 1600 OHV guise.
