B.R Whorton ran two Quests, used to see them around a lot. The tipper and also a boxvan, the drivers liked them apparently and both are preserved.

Looks like North of the Border Dan? Bit cheeky of you to pull in and get yourself a free inspection, but I suppose it saves doing it yourself at weekend.

Yes they did, i think one or two may have ended up in South Africa, like the trucks, not a great success, but nice to hear of independent attempts to break the mould.

That looks a tidy motor Buzzer it would have been called a Super Comet in years past ! Albion axle, 6 speed O/d and 401 Leyland engine ! But the fuel tank filler looks a bit difficult to access so probably it was just a "show " motor ! Cheers Dennis.

There is no doubt that the towel will have been nicked from possibly a B&B in Blackpool or Skeggy !! Is that anchor and chain the brakes ? and what is a “Tacho chart” Oh! we’ve got one 'ere Lads ee’ll need a lowloader recovery trailer to get this GV9 virus home !! can’t risk giving it a “delayed” ticket oh no it’s more than my jobs worth eh!

Didn’t notice that fuel tank. I’ve had some that were a bit awkward but…

As you say they specialised in building buses for the South African market, although they did build some for the UK market.

There were only 5 Quest trucks ever built and the first 3 chassis were sold by the receiver but no one seems to know
what happened to them, but its possible they were sold for scrap. Chassis 4 & 5 were sold to Whorton’s.
The 5 that were built were also no doubt destined for South Africa before the company went bust as they were fitted with
air con and had no heaters. Whorton’s took out the air con and fitted heaters.
