something that may be interesting,if you are stuck at an RDC have you ever seen how other drivers pass the time,i was stuck at waitrose bracknell one day when this other driver beside me brings out a guitar and starts playing,it took me by surprise because i had never seen a fellow driver do that, and he played it really well,it was nice to listen to and made a change from sitting there bored stiff

I was parked outside Valencia on afternoon when the guy in front of me got out of a Belgian reg truck and set up an easel and started painting, to be honest unless you have something to pass the time while you are away this can be the most boring job on the planet.
I usually just sleep,Zzzzzzzzz then get a knock on the door “Awwww 5 more minutes pleaaase!!!” lol
I read loads of books when I’m away. I love it.

Funny looking trumpet… with a slide.

I used to know a bloke who played the saxophone in his cab while waiting.
I knew a driver who played the chanter while driving the M.ways at night.

I took and gained an Access Diploma to Higher Education a few years back and done nearly all of my course work whilst on nights out. When I was sat at a RDC I read through books
When I was tramping I used to regularly take a guitar with me, either an acoustic or an electric with a small amp which plugged into the lighter socket. Other ways to pass the time included riding my bicycle (I once went out for a 50 mile ride from Argos Heywood, over the Pennines to Mytholmroyd and back again) or learning the concertina. Or just reading lots of books.
