Passengers

and no, not the never ending war of is it legal/allowed or not.

Just curious if you take passengers like your wife or son/daughter out on a regular basis?

For the record and forever more, you can carry passengers and your insurance does allow it.

It is company policy and nothing more!

A motor vehicle must and always will be insured to carry the driver AND passenger(s).

At least someone else agrees

Yep I take my misses when I work Saturdays and the company are fine with it

Used to take my missus out occasionally before she got the bus-driving job; company were OK but I think it’s always right to ask first.

Used to take the missus or one of the daughters with me every Friday/ Saturday night and most nights during school hols. Company was always fine to the point that when missus was with me she used to answer works phone. Having said that just before arriving at delivery or collection they used to get up on bunk behind curtains. Daughters when they came out used to last til about 0200 hours and then snore like pigs.

if i work on a satuday, and we can get a babysitter, the missus comes with me,
The company i work for are fine about it, i know some of the other drivers take there kids with them.

The only time they get arsey about it, is if we have to load out of the docks, then they don’t like us taking anyone with us

i have been with me dad at every company hes been with… infact i have booked next week off work to go ‘trucking’ with him :sunglasses: , miss the days where i was with him every weekend

Do the child seat laws apply to lgvs? My son’s still too young and there are too many where I work keen to lick bosses brasseye and report things like that. Never happened when I was a boy riding with Dad on the same firm.
Hansons have a rule where their plant ops have to report any lorry driver carrying a passenger under 18; This doesn’t apply to the general public buying materials though, surprise surprise :unamused:

I guess it’s easier for her to take you along now. Do you get a discount on the fare and does she tell you to move up the bus?

That is a different question to the original, a company may have its own rules about passengers on site, they may have an age limit on a construction site or a gender ban in a gay club. But whatever the company says, the passengers are still insured

No
Because im not Married, and also officially without Children :exclamation:

Some sites of load pick up only allow 2nd driver on site as do some of the major supermarket distribution centres ,but often my boss will say its ok to take your wife on this trip if you want its not a restricted site…

I some times pick my daughter up from school on a Friday, on the way back to the yard.

Any hitch hiker thats picked up isn’t worth it without a photo

yep on saturdays or sunday call outs my wife and baby come with me…company says its ok for close relative/family but they say no to hitch hikers incase they steal the van…

My partner wanted to come with me on my Friday and Sunday trunk runs, which I was going to do until this past Sunday, as per my other post ‘unbelievable’, I have changed my mind. I could of so easily been killed with her if she’d been with me on Sunday, and it made me realise that would of meant my kids having nobody to care for them, so I’m not going to put them in that situation. It seems every day a driver is getting killed at the moment, and we all daily have something happen that could easily go that way if not for our skill, and a huge slice of luck if we’re honest. :frowning:

You can’t seriously let things like that effect you?

You could both die in the car going shopping, or even just crossing the road.

Just live your life, be happy
