So, i have now passed my cat c. Now waiting to do mod4 cpc.
Day 1 of the training was on Sunday, just 1 on 1 for half a day… went ok, but really needed to get to grips with how slow to take roundabouts and some corners, but overall it was pretty good!
Day 2, was now 2 of us… the other guy was in his late 50’s id assume, but we soon got chatting on the break time, and got on really well and we both seemed to be chilled even with the other watching us! he had previously been for a test 3 weeks ago but failed due to a couple things… this day wasn’t so good for me, i kept on messing up on the roundabouts again, which got me pretty wound up at some points, and just felt like walking away, but cooled off during break and was ready to go again. Things went great, Until i went into Bangor centre… 1 Roundabout well and truly caught me out, only by about 5mph or so, but felt waaay too fast, but by the time i had noticed it was too late. Never mind, didn’t hit anything or touch any kerbs, Lesson Learnt! Also went up on some new roads, with 2 being awful. Just couldn’t get my head around to remembering where the bad corner and stretch of tight road was.
Day 3, Much better again, confidence was high… Until i met that corner and stretch once again. Except for that, Loving it! Now onto the reversing, explained what to do, i jumped back in the cab, and off i went. Nailed it 3/3, so was happy with that. Nothing really to say about this day as it all went pretty smooth.
Test day, And nervous isn’t the word. Had an hour before the test, but the guy before me broke down, so my 2pm test turned into half 2… no worries, its all good! now came the reversing, and i noticed how much tighter it was to the cones i was practising in, but never mind, kept a cool head and got it in the box nicely, finished reversing up, hopped out for a look, Spot on.
Now onto the road, everything all good, on the narrow bridge the cars the other side let me through, and off i went, no problems there, then we headed back to felinheli. Asked me to pull up on the left, All good there, and starting to relax now… another pull up on the left coming out the other side of felinheli, all good there too.
Now onto the A55 up to Llanfair P.G, no worries, all good driven through here every day of my training. Except when i was stopping behind the parked cars waiting for traffic i decided to put the handbrake on a split second before we were at a complete standstill. Oops, Big Big woops and you can imagine how i felt. Luckily there was no one behind so didn’t cause anyone to take action.
Now back down towards bangor then head towards bethel. Just the one road that i kept messing up on with the corner and stretch of road, But i cracked it! No problems, then finally back onto the road we started on and back to the test center, For a big fat pass, plus a few words of wisdom about my handbrake stunt.
Result.
