Passed with Peter Smythe ... work? & cpc question

Hi chaps i passed my class 2 with Petes superb facilities.last week ,First time 2 minors :sunglasses:
Now i have had my car licence since 1987 .
I have 14 hours cpc off the class 2 training .
So does this mean i just do the 35 hours with no more tests ?
Anyone know of any class 2 work around tramping nights out etc …
West midlands or anywhere really

Congrats pal!

You have 14 hours towards the periodic CPC, so need another 21 hours to complete that.
Or you can do the mods from the start…

21 hour cpc needed to get DQC

I hope 21 hours is not going to be like the dreadful
Speed awareness course :sunglasses:
Cheers lads

 ohh pooo :unamused:

You though you knew boredom with a speed awareness course ! that’s just a maths lesson at school compared to a 5 day CPC course

I like to think we’ve broken the mould with cpc training - so please don’t knock it till you’ve done it.

21 hours will complete your cpc.

Pete

most LGV training schools will make the classrom periodic cpc interesting

Surely as a new driver you dont have to do any classroom cpc? I didn’t! And i have my cpc card.

Did you get periodic with class 2 class 1 and tacho course then ?

The driver has LGV C1 because of a pre 1997 licence so does not need to do initial cpc

IMO good quality classroom cpc can be better than the initial provided the driver is prepared to learn. Those who hate it are often those who come with pre-conceived ideas about how dire and boring it will be. And for those, it probably will be. For those with an open mind that actually want to learn about the industry it’s a golden opportunity to gain information in a reliable manner. I emphasise that this only applies to good quality driver cpc and sadly there’s a lot of inferior offerings around.

We regularly get comments from very experienced drivers that they have learned loads and are surprised to have actually enjoyed the day. But I am aware of those who come in with a face like thunder, keep it going all day and leave having wasted their day. Thankfully, there’s not too many of these.

Our courses are very pro-active and discussion led. No two courses will ever be the same and that keeps us on our toes - which is good. We consistently get praise from the auditors following their visits with comments like “this is how a cpc course should be done”.

So my message to those who have the choice of classroom or initial is that careful thought should be given before going for might seem the less painful option.

Pete

I cannot see it being boring there.
I know nowt about cpc tbh,I have plenty of time but will go days in a row asap Pete … im glad im doing it in Mansfield :sunglasses:
Foc due to 1 of the offers :sunglasses:

Class 1 will follow soon as i sell something :unamused:

Am I the only one surprised by this bit of the OP?
The man knows he is getting 14 hrs of CPC for his training, yet has not made the correlation with the 35 hrs needed for the CPC. Surely this should be clearly explained when courses are booked.

Not a jibe at PSTT either, but it is no wonder there are so many posts on here from newbies when people at decent schools are unclear about this.

Agreed mate, and it’s a scenario that I often encounter.

IMHO, there’s often a problem with the different words that people use for the same thing, which often means that people end up confusing themselves.

People often don’t realise that there is an initial DCPC and a periodic DCPC.

The OP has an exemption from the initial DCPC due to having passed his car test pre 01/01/1997, so because he has completed some training that is approved for periodic DCPC he now has 14hrs towards his 35 required hours.

People can’t do periodic DCPC until they have completed their initial DCPC by exemption OR one of the choices available.

And in no way a pop at the OP, but this is explained fully (sometimes several times) but it’s not easy to understand. Certainly everyone who comes through our doors has it explained to them but, when there is such a lot to take in with the whole procedure, it’s little wonder that confusion sets in from time to time.

But we’re always there to help and a lot of my time on TN is spent with this.

And in no way a pop at the OP, …

That’s a very fair point Peter, I meant to put that in my post just above.

Yes, this is the problem - such a lot to take in, especially compared to a few years ago.

But anyone who thinks you’re thick has a problem themselves IMO.

All the best, Pete
