Passed Sainsburys driving assesment today

Did driving assessment for Sainsburys Basingstoke today and passed. Can start in a couple of weeks time. Very please with myself. Am the first person they have assessed that has not had 12 months experience. Difficult driving course all city center driving with quite a few tight turns and mini roundabouts.

well done m8 remember it all costs less at sainsburys

well done

so what did the assessment consist of exactly?

I believe Sainsburys really only use class 1 at Basingstoke… could be wrong, but certainly havnt seen any class 2 units about, so I’m hazarding a guess at probably paperwork stuff first… i.e. driving hrs. - WTD - Highway code … Coupling and un- coupling… then a general driving assessment round Basingstoke…

I remember when I worked at a Sainsburys in Surrey, they did use a lot of agency drivers… some of our EE brethren use to turn up at the store where I worked claiming they couldn’t get the unit on the bay… lucky for them I had just passed my test so me being helpful and a tad cocky would show them how it was done…that was until the someone grasses me up and I got warned me off…
So I took the attitude if the can’t get it on the bay it wasn’t get unloaded… couldn’t anyway as there trailers didn’t have tailgate lifts and I wasn’t gonna start handballing stuff…

Did that once when some freezer greezer turned up 15 minutes before the end of my shift… and they expected me to stay and unload 8 cages of frozen… yeh right… by the time the driver had stopped ■■■■■■■■ and moaning probably only did one cage and that was me finished for the night…

Congratz m8. All the best and I hope you love the new job.

It has been flattened and they are currently rebuilding it, has been going on for over 12 months now. They are currently looking at getting the most @rse numbing seats they can find for the naughty room for us to sit on for hours on end :open_mouth:

Rebuilding is pretty much done, just a trailer park to finish off. The depot is mainly C+E but they do have some class 2 which you will be expected to drive from time to time.

The assessment consisted of:

  1. drugs and alcohol test
  2. DVLA License check
  3. written test, tacho rules, highway code and general truck H+S
  4. 30 min drive around Basingstoke Town centre
  5. Reverse on bay.

If you pass it all then 1 1/5 day induction and training in their procedures.

That bad is it lol

Yep-same as Canute. Some of the places they expect you to go to are ridiculous.

44 tonners and tiny farm tracks are not a good mix lol.
