So I passed my hgv licences in the military and only drove wagon and drag but my licence is the same as a friends who drives artics :s does this mean I can drive both or has someone made a mistake? I have my module 2 and 4 booked so I can drive for a living but I have no real experience but really want to drive class one if I have licence! Is there a chance for weekend work while I’m still employed as engineer durin the week? What is the best way to approach/ find companies I’m in the Mansfield / Nottinghamshire area so local info would be great but any info will be more than gratefully received many thanks

Plenty of people take their C+E test in a wag n drag, as long as you’ve got cat C+E on your license then you’re good to go with artics.
For weekend work agencies are your best bet especially as we’re approaching the pre-Christmas busy period.
When did you get LGV entitlement with the military ?
If you passed any LGV test or held any LGV entitlement before September 2009 you don’t need to do modules 2 & 4, for instance if you held a car license before 1997 you would have had cat C1 on your license before September 2009 so would have grandfather rights to the DCPC.

The C+E on your licence covers both artic and W&Ds
If working mon to fri then under EU tacho regs you will generally only be able to drive one day every other weekend so as to conform to the EU weekly rest rules
Good to know that the forces are now informing those leaving without LGV DCPC aquired/grandfather rights of what they need to do
I am assuming you got your very first LGV category (either C1 or C) on your licence after 09/09/2009 ■■
The only drivers restricted to a wagon and drag are those who upgraded from the old HGV licence some years ago and a code will be applied to their licence accordingly. From a practical point of view some lessons in an artic would be useful.
Many thanks for answers so far I passed last year so need to do mod 2 and 4 have booked them and start in oct. soon as I have that I will be on phone to agency’s trying for weekend work every other weekend preferably that’s if I pass obviously! How much would I be looking for few lessons in artics feel bit daft ringing a training school and saying I’ve got Hgv license but don’t actually know how to crack on wi a artic

Dont feel daft - the training schools will not think so
2 hours with a school in an artic will have you sorted
That will probably be -
a couple of un/couples
perhaps 6 different reverses
The rest on the road drive
